Spiders!

This morning I saw a crane fly, and it brought to mind the very first time I recall seeing a crane fly when I was a kid. My first thought was, "What the hell? Spiders can fly?"

You see, I thought it was a daddy long-legs that had sprouted wings and was cruising around the world on a sightseeing adventure.

Of note: The daddy long legs is the only spider I am not freaked out by or scared of. My dad told me when I was a kid that they couldn't even bite you because their mandibles were to small (probably not true!) and I don't think I really can imto the fear of spiders until well after that, when I found out about all the gross, crunchy, hairy, bitey, poisonous ones.

Ah, to be young and fearless again.

I know of those things by the name "mosquito-eater". I don't know if they actually eat mosquitoes. My guess is not, but I used to think so, so I'll leave it be. I like the sortof alliteration in the name.
